Jason Edmonson completed a two-year Foundation Degree in Policing at UCLan, and secured employment in his chosen subject before the end of his degree.
So far, Jason has served just over two years with the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, a force responsible for Counter Terrorism.
In his current role as an Authorised Firearms Officer, he carries a variety of firearms as his Personal Protective Equipment and patrols a 5km area off site to deter and disrupt any terrorism activity around his nuclear site. His key responsibilities also include maintaining his Firearms qualification as per the National Policing Improvement Agency Firearms for Police Officers.
Jason feels his UCLan degree prepared him for his career in numerous ways: “The main aspects I have taken from my degree into my career are the experience and expertise from the tutors at UCLan.
“The variety of experience from the tutors has been absolutely priceless. I found all the tutors to be extremely helpful with every academic aspect of the course, whether this was assignment writing advice or examination revision. Throughout the degree I feel I was treated with great respect and felt a genuine drive for the tutors to help you succeed.”
