BA(Hons) Community and Citizenship (Year 1)
“When I started at UCLan I was balancing full-time employment and full-time study. As my university workload increased I had to cut down my working hours meaning my family’s income stream was reduced. The cost of travelling to classes, paying for textbooks and everyday living was starting to add up and I struggled to support my family."
“I received £100 in book vouchers which helped me to buy the expensive yet essential textbooks I needed to help me with my course. I also received a laptop which meant I was able to work from home more rather than commuting from Blackpool to Preston every day. I also got to spend more time with my daughter and husband in the evenings rather than studying at the library."
“Since my time at UCLan I have managed to get a job at the Children and Young People Service. I went to UCLan with the goal of getting a job that could help make people’s lives easier and I am proud that I have already started to achieve this.”
“I would like to say a huge thank you to the Harris Bursary Fund for helping me complete my studies. I am sure that without their help I wouldn’t have gained my degree and certain I wouldn’t have achieved the grade I did.”
