On 22nd June, 96 students officially finished the GDUFS part of their journey and will begin to prepare for their time in Preston at UCLan from September this year.
The UCLan-GDUFS awards ceremony was attended by UCLan’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Liz Bromley, and Vice-President of GDUFS, Chen LinHan (Peter), who both gave welcoming speeches. Staff from both universities attended including Alison Roberts and Matt Horn.
As well as awarding certificates to the students who completed UCLan and GDUFS modules as part of their time studying so far, a speech was given by the student representative, Feng XiWen (Tracy), and scholarship winner, Gong XuePing (Carina).
Tracy spoke about the desire of all the teachers, both Chinese and foreign, to encourage and motivate both her and her classmates to learn their subjects excellently. She challenged her classmates to continue “writing their story” in Preston next year.
Carina explained in her speech about her history at another institution and how she saw a clear difference in the classes that she took and the teachers who taught her. She also spoke of the growth in confidence of her fellow classmates to speak to teachers.
These two students are fantastic examples of the success they have achieved so far and both UCLan & GDUFS are extremely proud and hope that other students will be inspired to succeed.
