  • A recent careers fair held at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) gave students from architecture and construction courses a chance to boost their job prospects.

The event was well attended by students looking for their first step on the career ladder and employers hoping to capitalise on the talent which the University has to offer.

Quantity surveying lecturer, Adrienne Yarwood, said: “We had a huge range of companies at our careers fair. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to meet with employers and professional bodies from their sector.

“It was interesting this year that we had a lot of new companies, in a diverse range of areas, who were looking to fill a position on the day.”

The current crop of students also had a chance to meet their predecessors. A number of UCLan graduates were in attendance on behalf of their respective companies.

‘The University are doing an excellent job at preparing their graduates for the future,’ said building surveying graduate, Samantha Davis.

She added: “The strong links which we have with UCLan are really important as we can find highly skilled, eager graduates for the roles we need filling.”

Richard Edge, from Croft Goode Architects, echoed these views. “We have been involved with UCLan for a number of years and several members of our staff have completed degrees there. We feel that it is really important for us to keep that connection going.
