Dance students at UCLan had the opportunity to work with renowned choreographer Riccardo Buscarini at the beginning of the year, developing a piece of choreography called Cathedrals.
As the year group continues to rehearse the piece for their upcoming gallery & theatre performances in May, they have also embarked on a tour of local schools & colleges, most recently sharing their performance at Hutton Grammar School in Preston. Two members of the touring company led a workshop for the school’s GCSE & A Level dance students based on their own creative process with Riccardo.
After performing Cathedrals the grammar school students were then given the opportunity to take part in a Q&A session with dancers about their experience of making and touring the work as well as their time on the DPT programme. Dance, Performance and Teaching alumna and now dance teacher at Hutton Grammar School Catherine Mclean said: “It was a pleasure having the students perform the amazing ‘Cathedrals’. They did themselves and their course very proud with their high standard performance work and total professionalism – our students really enjoyed it.”
Tour manager, Lucy Nicholson said: “This is what our course is all about, relevant and realistic experiences working as professional dance artists.”
