Combining her love for the industry and her passion for sports, in particular football, Caroline chose to study Sports Journalism at UCLan due to the high standard and reputation of the course.
Caroline said she was drawn to UCLan due to previous students that had been successful on the course, and the welcoming feel of the University.
During her time at university, Caroline wrote for several publications including Shoot magazine, Daily Prem and Football Fancast which led to her being headhunted for her current job working as a Content Producer at Manchester City Football Club.
Caroline says: “Throughout the course I was taught by experienced professionals and we were encouraged to obtain as much work experience as possible.”
Caroline’s greatest achievement since graduating from the University is receiving her permanent contract at Manchester City Football Club where she was the first official journalist for the Manchester Women’s Team. She also writes for the First Men’s team, the Elite Development Squad and the Under-18s side.
Reflecting on her time at University, Caroline says: “I could never have achieved my dream without the Sports Journalism course at UCLan, particularly without the help of the lecturers.”
Her lasting memories of UCLan include the friends that she made, as well as the knowledge, confidence and life skills that she gained.
When offering advice to prospective students, Caroline says: “Follow your dream and work hard at it. You can achieve anything if you want it badly enough. Make sure to advertise your skills on social media, you never know who is looking.”
