Students' Union Best Course Team award goes to Lancashire Business School

Lancashire Business School’s (LBS) BA Business Foundation Course team has received the Best Course Team of the Year Award at the SU Golden Roses evening.

The winning team of Penelope Marshall-Kalina, Barry Marshall-Kalina, Peter Ashfield, Paul McKeown and Janet Chettle were recognised for their positive contributions to the academic experience, through assessment and feedback practices, innovative teaching methods and responsiveness with students.

Course leader Penelope Marshall-Kalina, said: “I was honoured to be presented by the Students’ Union, with a ‘Golden Roses Award’ for the best course team in the University and I would like to thank my students for taking the time and effort to highlight the effectiveness of this course and the passion of all members of the course team.”

Organised by UCLan Students’ Union, the 4th annual Golden Roses teaching awards provide students with the opportunity to recognise the hard work that academic and professional service staff put in. The event was a resounding success and gathered a large crowd of academics, students and support staff to celebrate the achievements.

The Students’ Union received 1393 nominations and LBS were shortlisted for four awards including: University Service for the School office, the School of the Year, Lifetime Achievement for Services to Students to John Wilson and Best Course Team of the Year. Alongside BA Business Foundation Course, students also nominated LBS’ BA Marketing course for Best Course Team of the Year.

Dean of LBS Dharma Kovvuri said: “I’m extremely proud that the Business School received four nominations in the SU awards. It is particularly pleasing as the nominations came from our students.

“Congratulations to the BA Business Foundation team for winning the Course Team category. It’s important to offer access courses such as this and the award is testimony to the fantastic support provided by the course team to help aspiring students succeed. “
