We have enjoyed a longstanding partnership with Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) in China for over 20 years. During this time we have collaborated on a number of successful Electronic and Engineering programmes, including the renowned BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering course.

Established in 1940, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is a major science and engineering university which is now affiliated to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

BIT has become a key research institution in the aftermath of the Chinese government’s nationwide Project 211, Project 985 and ‘Top A World-class University’ strategies, which saw major investment in the country’s higher education institutions, with a view to delivering future social development and economic growth.

BIT aspires “to develop students as leaders with ambition, wisdom, innovation and sense of duty.” A pioneer in the fields of science, technology and education, BIT has been called upon to develop strategies which address national and global needs. Today the Institute is recognised as a leader in technologies relating to intelligent and bionic robotics, space adaptive optics, green energy, modern communications and industrial process control.

BIT comprises 18 professional schools as well as a number of key research institutes, including Xu Teli School; Advanced Research Institute for Multidisciplinary Science; the Institute of Advanced Structure Technology; and the Institute of Convergence Medical and Engineering.

The following subjects at BIT are ranked in the top 1% of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) international disciplines: Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Material Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Social Sciences.

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, China

Since 1986, we have enjoyed a successful partnership with the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in China. Our collaboration focuses on International Business and International Journalism, and has remained strong and successful in providing students with amazing opportunities over the years.

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) has the mission of “whole-person education and pursuit of excellence” and pursues the internationalisation of its faculty, students, academic research and management, with a view to being recognised as a high-tier internationalised university of excellence.

GDUFS has three beautiful campuses: the main campus, the North Campus at the foot of the Baiyun Mountain; the South Campus in Guangzhou High Education Mega Center; and Dalang Campus.

The University offers more than 70 programmes in art, economics, education, engineering, law, literature, management and science. They pride themselves in being able to offer a wide variety of language programmes, with 26 foreign languages currently available.

GDUFS is one of just 19 universities worldwide qualified to provide high-end translation professionals to the United Nations and the only foreign studies-oriented university in the CAMPUS Asia programme. HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries

In 2014, UCLan in collaboration with Hebei University (HBU) created the joint non independent status School: HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries. The Joint School, approved by China’s Ministry of Education, offers 4-year degrees related to the creative industries. It is located in purpose-built accommodation on the Hebei University east campus in Baoding. Baoding is a politically important city only 36 minutes by fast train to Beijing, in Hebei Province, NE China. Over 750 students are currently enrolled on 6 UCLan franchised degree programmes. There is capacity to grow to 800 students and we're in the process of expanding a postgraduate and research prevision. Up to 50 students per year have the option of studying part of their programme at the UCLan Preston campus in the UK.

Hebei University (HBU) has established co-operative links with over 100 top universities around the world, making it a hub of innovative education. HBU is a pilot university designated by China’s Training and Research Center for Overseas Study of Ministry of Education. It was the first one approved to receive Chinese government scholarships in Hebei Province. HBU have also founded Chinese language teaching centres in Russia, Malaysia and other countries. HBU also have two Confucius Institutes in Pontifical Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro and Xavier University in Louisiana.

These MA programmes are based on the China model of a 3 year programme (compulsory for Masters level study in China). The UCLan validated MA titles will be offered as Year 2 of the scheme and students will have the opportunity to study this phase on campus in Preston, although with a proportion of teaching from UCLan across all 3 years.

Students successfully completing the above programmes will be awarded a dual degree (HBU as well as UCLan).

Hunan Normal University, China

Our partnership with Hunan Normal University (HNU) is relatively new, with the very first students enrolling on our joint BSc (Hons) Sport and Physical Education course in September 2018. This major new collaboration has been endorsed by China’s Ministry of Education. Upon graduation, students will be awarded both HNU and University of Central Lancashire degrees.

HNU, founded in 1938, is a higher education institution in Changsha, Hunan Province. It is a highly ranked institution (4^th in Hunan and 79^th nationally).

HNU is a Project 211 university, designated as one of the country’s 100 key universities and given priority when obtaining national funds. It is also a Chinese Ministry of Education Double First Class Discipline University, a major government initiative to comprehensively develop a group of elite universities into ‘world-class universities’ by 2050.

It is a multi-disciplinary institution offering a wide range of courses in everything from journalism to medicine. It is particularly well regarded for teacher education and training, foreign language studies, and Chinese literature and history.

Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, China

Our partnership with Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE) is a long-standing one. It began in 2000 with the delivery of our English for International Business course. Back then they were known as the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade.

SUIBE was first established as a Department of Foreign Languages for Foreign Trade. Then, in June 2013, Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade secured Chinese Ministry of Education approval to become the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics.

They offer a broad range of programmes and courses in English for International Business, English Language and Literature, Journalism, Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (CTCFL), French and Japanese.

SUIBE have developed their curriculum to reflect the globalised nature of business. They equip graduates with a global vision and high calibre skills in language, culture and communication.

The University’s mission is to advance the strengths of Shanghai and China in international trade and economics. SUIBE is actively engaged in high-level research in fields related to international trade through various research institutes.
